MIAMI BEACH, FL (April 21, 2009)―Luis Trelles, AIA, presents two new publications celebrating the work of Trelles Cabarrocas Architects in a talk and book signing at The Wolfsonian–FIU on May 28, 2009 at 7pm in The Dynamo Museum Shop.

These monographs, Trelles Cabarrocas Architects (ACAM Ediciones) and Casas/Houses: Trelles Cabarrocas Architects (Kliczkowski), complete with annotations and commentary by architects from Europe and the Americas, illustrate the impact this architecture and urban design collaboration, in active practice in Miami since 1987, has had on the Florida landscape during its more than twenty years of professional practice.

Operating out of downtown Miami, principals Jorge Trelles, Mari Tere Cabarrocas Trelles, and Luis Trelles have built projects ranging from houses and gardens to civic and commercial buildings, while simultaneously perfecting and defining their unique architectural vision.

The office has completed built works in South Florida and the Florida Panhandle. Recent works include the Fine House, a new villa at the shores of Elbow Lake in Coral Gables, and the Goñi House and garden at Smuggler’s Cove in Key Biscayne, Florida. On the boards are projects for new houses, new schools and churches, campus master plans and inner city development projects for metropolitan Miami. Jorge and Mari have recently completed their new house, Ca' Rosa, in Coconut Grove, Florida.

Born through study and experimentation in the spirit of collaboration with their colleagues and students from the University of Miami School of Architecture, Trelles Cabarrocas Architects have pioneered an individual style that is both learned through tradition yet innovative and executed with respect for the local crafts, climatic concerns of the region and community building.

Trelles Cabarrocas Architects (ACAM Ediciones)
By highlighting some of the office’s most important projects, the monograph Trelles Cabarrocas Architects, edited by Javier Cenicacelaya and published by ACAM Ediciones in Bilbao Spain, traverses the oeuvre of built work produced by this architecture and urban design practice during the last twenty years. The volume includes projects for dwellings, civic and commercial buildings, presented with bilingual (English and Spanish) texts and commentaries by a variety of architects including Elizabeth Plater-Zyberk, Léon Krier, Javier Cenicacelaya, and Teofilo Victoria, as well as in-depth descriptions of both built and unbuilt works by Luis Trelles.

Casas/Houses: Trelles Cabarrocas Architects (Kliczkowski)
This monograph, also bilingual (English and Spanish) presents an in-depth look at twelve of the houses designed by Trelles Cabarrocas Architects in the Miami and the Florida panhandle, including the Casa Touret in Key Biscayne, Tigertail House in Coconut Grove, Dragonette Townhouse in Seaside, and Pensione in Rosemary Beach.

Both publications will be available for purchase in The Dynamo Museum Shop. For more information about this event, contact 305.535.1456 or paola@thewolf.fiu.edu.
